Appearance

Environment and Diet

They also appreciate hiding places such as plants, caves, and driftwood in their aquarium. It is essential to maintain a consistent temperature of around 22-26°C.

Behavior

Neon Tetras are peaceful, shoaling fish and do best in environments with other peaceful species. They can become stressed if kept alone, so it is best to keep them in a school. Males and females are identical in appearance, and it is challenging to determine their sex.

Reproduction

Neon Tetras are egg-layers and tend to breed in open water plants. Spawning can be triggered by increased water flow, photoperiod, and temperature. The female will lay upwards of 100 eggs, and the male will fertilize them. Once hatched, the fry can be fed on small live foods such as infusoria and vinegar eels.
