Natalie Portman, born Natalie Hershlag on June 9, 1981, is an Israeli-American actress, producer, and director. Named after the song “Natalie” by Gilbert Bécaud, she was born in Jerusalem to an Israeli father and an American mother.

She began acting at a young age, attending a theater camp in Connecticut at the age of 10, and landed her first role in the 1994 film “Léon: The Professional” at the age of 13.
