Created by Doug Moench and Don Perlin, Moon Knight is a superhero of Marvel Comics. The first appearance of this mysterious character was in Werewolf by Night #32 in August 1975. The character later got his first solo book called “The Fist of Khonshu” in 1980.

The character’s true identity is that of Marc Spector, a former CIA agent and mercenary. He suffers from dissociative identity disorder (DID), which leads him to believe that he’s three different people: Marc Spector, Steven Grant, and Jake Lockley.

Moon Knight possesses outstanding qualities and abilities that make him unique and versatile. He can bestow telekinesis, increased strength, and limited psychic abilities due to his connection with the moon god Khonshu; his signature weapon is crescent-shaped throwing objects and a staff, and his outfit is a white cloak, cowl, and gloves, with a gold and silver emblem of the moon on his chest.

Despite being an excellent fighter and having abilities that can put him on par with other superheroes like Spider-Man, Daredevil, and Batman, Moon Knight’s greatest weapon is his unpredictability. The character’s integration with DID leaves you guessing which version of Spector you’re dealing with, further amplifying his already enigmatic nature.

Moon Knight’s storylines, rooted in psychological and social themes, have contributed significantly to his appeal. For example, in Huston and Finch’s “The Bottom” arc, a critically acclaimed 6-episode story, Moon Knight reveals to a priest that he doesn’t know if he is hallucinating or having visions, opening the door to the real possibility that the character may not be sane.
