It also is known to have the largest volcano in the solar system, called Olympus Mons, and the deepest canyon, Valles Marineris.

Potential for Life on Mars

Mars has been studied for signs of past or present life for many years, as it may have harbored microbial life in the past. The planet’s terrain holds clues of flowing rivers and standing water, which suggests it had a warmer and wetter environment in its past.
