The Indianapolis Indians are a minor league baseball team that is based in Indianapolis, Indiana. They are the Triple-A affiliate of the Pittsburgh Pirates and play in the International League. History

The team was originally called the Indianapolis Indians because they played their games at the Federal League Park, which had been built on the former site of a Native American burial ground. The team has had several different names over the years, including the Indianapolis Hoosiers and the Indianapolis Indians again, before settling on the Indianapolis Indians permanently in 1962.

The team has also had several different affliations over the years, including the Cincinnati Reds and the Montreal Expos, before finally becoming the Triple-A affiliate of the Pittsburgh Pirates in 2005.
