Colugos, also known as flying lemurs, are arboreal mammals found in Southeast Asia. These unique creatures have a gliding membrane, called a patagium, that extends from their neck to their ankles, which allows them to glide effortlessly through the air up to 200 meters. Despite their name, they are not true lemurs and do not fly, but rather glide by gliding from tree to tree in the forest canopy.

Due to habitat loss and hunting, colugos are listed as near threatened by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN). Deforestation, conversion of forest land into palm oil plantations, and hunting for their meat and patagium are the biggest threats to their survival.
