Charlotte Checkers is a professional ice hockey team based in Charlotte, North Carolina. The team was founded in 1993 and initially played in the East Coast Hockey League (ECHL). In 2010, they became part of the American Hockey League (AHL), serving as the top minor league affiliate of the Carolina Hurricanes of the National Hockey League (NHL).
