Champa: A glimpse into the ancient kingdom

Champa was a powerful and prosperous kingdom located in Central and Southern Vietnam from the 2nd century until the 19th century. The civilization was a dominant force in Southeast Asia and had a significant influence on the region’s trade, culture, and religion.

The Champa kingdom declined in the late 15th century due to a combination of factors, including political instability, economic decline, and military defeats by neighboring kingdoms such as Dai Viet (present-day Vietnam) and the Khmer Empire (present-day Cambodia). However, Champa’s legacy can still be seen today in Vietnam’s culture and historical landmarks, such as the My Son Sanctuary, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and Cham Museum in Da Nang.
