Caroline Seger

Caroline Seger is a retired professional soccer player from Sweden. She was born on March 19, 1985, in Helsingborg, Sweden. Seger played as a midfielder and was known for her strong leadership qualities.

Seger began her professional career with Malmö FF in 2004, where she played for four years before transferring to Linköpings FC. She spent six seasons with Linköpings FC and won three Swedish championships and one Swedish Cup. In 2012, she moved to French club Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) and helped them reach the UEFA Women’s Champions League final in 2015, where they lost to FFC Frankfurt. In 2016, she returned to Sweden and signed with FC Rosengård, where she won two league titles and one cup before retiring in 2021.

On the international stage, Seger made her debut for the Sweden women’s national team in 2005 and went on to earn 214 caps. She was part of the Sweden team that won the silver medal at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Seger captained the Sweden national team for several years and was known for her strong leadership, work rate, and technical ability.

Off the field, Seger has been an advocate for LGBTQ+ rights and has been open about her own sexuality. In 2021, she was named ambassador for the Swedish government’s campaign against violence and discrimination towards LGBTQ+ individuals in sports.
